About the Artist
Owen Sea Luckey
As a multifaceted artist and designer, I blend my diverse skills to create one-of-a-kind wearables under the brand Luckey ReDo since 2012. Using carefully curated recycled garments, I create whimsical, recycled, re-imagined, handmade, one-of-a-kind garments using traditional craft techniques such as knitting, felting, sewing, embroidery, and collage.
My hand-knit originals, including hats, gloves, scarves, shawls, and collars, feature a Japanese wool-silk-angora blend, alongside angora, mohair, and cashmere. Each piece is uniquely adorned with antique buttons, lace, pattern accents, bursts of color, repurposed fabrics, and hand-knit tendrils.
Having started my career with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, I've navigated roles as a head designer in the textile corporate industry, home textiles designer on a global scale, interior designer, and as an independent entrepreneur supporting my community through the arts. The distinct collections I create blend wearability, practical function, luxurious textures, unexpected colors, and imaginative designs, forming a signature style marked by levity.
Continuing to push the boundaries of my craft with soft textured holes, mixed fibers, and a focus on function, I'm committed to weaving my unique stories into wearable art that resonates with a broad audience.
